Frequently Asked Questions
What types of mental health therapy services does Greene Life Counseling, LLC offer?
I offer individual and couples therapy to those aged 18+ to address a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, life transitions, and relationship challenges.
How can I schedule an appointment with a therapist at Greene Life Counseling?
I'd love to talk with you! Please email me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation phone call. If we decide we are a good fit for each other, we will schedule your first appointment at the end of the phone call.
What should I expect during my first therapy session?
Your first session is called your "intake" session. This is an hour-long session consisting of me guiding the process of getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. Please make sure you're in a private, comfortable spot while you share the hour with me.
Are virtual therapy sessions available at Greene Life Counseling, LLC?
Yes, I only offer virtual therapy sessions. This adds convenience and safeguards against health concerns. I will provide you with all of the information for joining virtual session beforehand so you face no stressors before your first appointment. Please note that due to state-licensing requirements, you must be in your state of residence (PA or KS) at the time of session. If you join session from a location other than your home, please be prepared to share the address of your location for safety and documentation requirements.
Do you accept insurance for therapy sessions?
Yes, I am currently in-network with a few insurance plans; please inquire to learn more. I also provide receipts (called "superbills") for out-of-network coverage for you to request reimbursement from your insurance if applicable. Private pay options for therapy are also available.
Should I use my insurance for therapy?
This is an important question to ask yourself.
Many times, people assume their insurance plans will make therapy more affordable, only to receive a much larger bill from their insurance companies than expected.
In addition to commonly causing financial strain, using your insurance benefits often causes disruptions in the therapeutic process, results in your confidentiality being violated by the insurance company, and restricts the types of therapy you can receive.
Please take some time to become familiar with how your insurance plan works. I'm happy to help that process if you have any questions.
You're in-network with my insurance and I understand how to use my insurance. How much will I pay?
Your insurance policy dictates what your out-of-pocket rate is per session. Please call the "mental health" or "behavioral health" phone number on the back of your insurance card to inquire about this rate for telehealth therapy. The amount that your insurance states you owe, either through a co-pay, deductible, or co-insurance, is what you will pay in order to remain compliant with your insurance contract.
When will I start to feel better?
Every person is different, but sometimes we feel worse before we begin to feel better. It is very common to feel this, especially when doing therapy work in a meaningful way. Taking an active role in your therapy is the most certain path to feeling better sooner.
How long should I expect to be in therapy?
Upon completing your intake, I will be able to give you an approximation of how long it may take to accomplish your goals. However, therapy is highly individualized and this answer will depend on many factors that are largely up to you and your life's circumstances.
I think I'm interested in therapy, but I'm not sure I'm ready to take the first step.
Kudos to you for checking in with yourself! That's an important step in starting this journey.
It is completely normal to feel hesitant before initiating therapy. If you have any questions about the services I offer, or the therapeutic process in general, I would love to help. Please feel free to send me an email or visit my blog posts.
