You Don’t Have to Do It All at the Same Pace

Oct 25, 2026

As the seasons change, it’s easy to notice what feels different around us. The days grow shorter, the temperatures drop, and our routines begin to shift. But sometimes, we expect ourselves to keep moving at the same pace we did when the days were longer and our energy felt different.

When we notice ourselves feeling less motivated, needing more rest, or struggling to keep up with our usual routines, we may interpret it as a lack of discipline. We push harder, criticize ourselves, or try to force our way through.

But what if the answer isn’t to try harder? What if it’s to adjust?

Your capacity doesn’t have to look the same in every season of life. Some seasons invite us to grow, explore, and take on new challenges. Others ask us to simplify, slow down, and preserve our energy for what matters most.

Adjusting your expectations doesn’t mean giving up on your goals. It means recognizing that how you reach them may need to change. Maybe you shorten your to-do list, make your routines more manageable, or give yourself permission to rest without first earning it.

You can still be committed to your growth while honoring your current needs. You can still make progress without making every day a test of your productivity.

As you move through this season, consider asking yourself: Am I expecting myself to function as though nothing has changed, or am I allowing myself to respond to what I need right now?

You don’t have to fight your way through every season. Sometimes, the most supportive thing you can do is meet yourself where you are—and let that be enough for today.

A gentle reminder: You are allowed to have different rhythms in different seasons. Working with yourself is not falling behind.
